Ewing Sim You have already have seen Ewing in local magazines as she's already making a mark on the fashion world. Having studied fashion design at Raffles from 1998 to 2000, Ewing tells of how she loved the practical aspects of the course the most. “Raffles gives us a lot of opportunity for practical exercise and work, rather than just theory, and this is what I enjoyed the most. Being a fashion designer is not only about being able to draw but also about understanding the whole structure of the design, because it will be the soul of the design.” Since then, she has gone on to work as Bridal gown designer at Lis Bridal Gown Manufacturer, discovering every girl's dream job of creating and sitting among beautiful designs made for a girl's most treasured day. She is now the senior designer for the company but has her own dream of building a brand for herself and having franchises all over the world. In fact, her initial, in-depth training at Raffles and winning 2 nd prize at the Young Fashion Designer Awards from MODA has put her on par with international standards, providing her with the platform for showing her collections around the world: she's had exposure at several of Malaysia's own KL fashion weeks, several Hong Kong Fashion Weeks and at bridal exhibitions at Las Vegas, Chicago and South Africa. And how does she attribute her success and polished skill in the industry? “The courses in Raffles are not an ordinary but very specialised and in-depth. From basic to advanced levels, it demands lots of practice for enhancing our skills. Raffles schedules very intense studying in every course to really create a qualified fashion designer. “After all, Raffles is the only fashion college in KL which holds international grads and has a well proven reputation for providing the most efficient and innovative knowledge to students. It's is the best stage for fulfilling your dreams. Just remember to be serious, concentrate and enjoy every moment there,” she adds as a final note.
